A man was arrested at a Kroger after allegedly using a phone to take a picture or video of a female employee while she was using the restroom, Channel 2 Action News reported Tuesday.
The station, citing Clayton County Police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams, reported that the employee of the store on Highway 138 near Stockbridge was using the restroom when she heard what she believed was a phone taking photographs. She then saw a hand under the stall, which prompted her to run out to get security personnel.
When security staff entered the women’s restroom, they found in one of the stalls 35-year-old William Jones, who told them that he went into the women’s restroom as the men’s room was locked. He also said he had had his phone out because he had been on the phone with his wife.
In the same stall security personnel say they found snacks, two beer cans and other items, Williams told the news station.
She added that officials do not yet know what images or videos were found on the phone.
A statement from a Kroger spokesman noted that the company is “taking this matter extremely seriously” and is cooperating with police.
“We appreciate our associate’s quick action and local security to help apprehend the suspect,” Kroger’s Glynn Jenkins said in the statement.
