Police are investigating a deadly pedestrian crash in Marietta.

The crash occurred just before 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on Fairground Street near Lawrence Street, Marietta police Officer Jared Rakestraw said.

A 2000 Ford Ranger was southbound on Fairground Street. As it approached Lawrence Street, the truck hit pedestrian Larry Whiteside, 66, of Marietta.

“Whiteside, who was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision, succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” Rakestraw said.

While the driver of the Ford Ranger is not facing charges, police asked anyone with information about the crash to call Officer Chris Henry at 770-794-5352.
