Driver accused of running red light, causing collision in Marietta

Marietta police are investigating a weekend crash that left two drivers with serious injuries.
About 7:20 p.m. Sunday, a crash took place at the intersection of North Marietta Parkway and Cobb Parkway North, police said in a news release. The incident landed 28-year-old Tyler Peacock and 56-year-old Rhena McCormick, both of Marietta, in Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Peacock was driving his 2000 Toyota 4Runner west on North Marietta Parkway toward the intersection, while McCormick was driving her 2016 Toyota Camry north on Cobb Parkway North toward the intersection, the release said. Investigators believe that Peacock ran a red light, causing the collision.
The 4Runner overturned after the crash, causing Peacock to be ejected from the SUV, the release said. Police said he was “unrestrained.”
Neither driver’s condition was provided, but police described their injuries as serious.
Charges are anticipated in the investigation, but none have been filed as of Monday, the release said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact crash investigators at 770-794-5352.
