A Cobb County road has reopened ahead of schedule after a tree fell onto power lines Wednesday afternoon, causing a fire and shutting down traffic.

Authorities responded to the fallen tree near the Sope Creek Bridge around 2:15 p.m. and shut down Paper Mill Road, the county said in a statement.

Officials originally estimated the road would be closed for several hours. However, they reopened it to traffic just after 3:15 p.m.
