Dean Hoffmann, 55, was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation, felony intimidation of a victim and burglary of a building, the television station reported.

The delivery driver arrived at a residence in Sheboygan County and was greeted by a couple at the door, the Sheboygan Press reported. As Hoffman paid for the pizza, the woman, who had a black eye, mouthed the words "help me" and "call the police" to the driver, according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department.

When deputies arrived, they said they could hear the 57-year-old woman yelling “help me” and “please come in,” the newspaper reported.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim started dating Hoffmann in 2016 and they lived together until two months ago. The woman moved away, but on Sept. 27 Hoffman allegedly entered her home, punched her, tied her up and tried to persuade her to resume their relationship, the Press reported.

Hoffman untied the woman before the pizza delivery driver arrived, WITI reported.
