The DeKalb County School Board on Thursday voted 6-1 to approve a three-year, $300,000 contract for superintendent finalist R. Stephen Green.

Green, currently the superintendent at Kansas City Public Schools in Missouri, will receive the second highest base salary among superintendents in the metropolitan Atlanta area behind Atlanta Public Schools chief Meria Carstarphen, who receives $375,000.

In addition to Green’s salary, he will receive about $31,000 for routine expenses and could receive another $9,000 for a car allowance, unless he is furnished a vehicle by the district.

Here’s a look at what some of the area school superintendents made last year, including bonus and benefits:

Cobb – Chris Ragsdale — $285,000

Fulton – Robert Avossa — $343,990

Gwinnett – Alvin Wilbanks — $482,280

Atlanta Public Schools – Meria Carstarphen – $400,000

DeKalb – Michael Thurmond — $315,000
