One person was killed Tuesday morning in a seven-car crash on I-85 in South Fulton, authorities said.
The crash investigation shut down all northbound lanes of the interstate at the Senoia Road exit for several hours. Authorities were on the scene until just after 10 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
The Georgia State Patrol was called to the crash site shortly before 7 a.m., according to agency spokeswoman Franka Young. South Fulton police were investigating the accident but requested the help of troopers to forensically map the scene, she said.
The GSP’s portion of the investigation wrapped up at 8:40 a.m. South Fulton police have not released any further details, including the name of the victim or the condition of the other drivers.
Georgia Department of Transportation footage shared by the Traffic Center showed several vehicles crashed into a concrete median and multiple tractor-trailers at the scene. The Traffic Center first reported the wreck at 6 a.m.
