If you thought Saturday was a bit too warm for your liking, you might feel even more miserable Sunday.

The day will start off toasty with temperatures in the mid to high 70s. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon projects that skies will be partly cloudy in the morning and throughout the day.

Temperatures will continue increasing, reaching up to 97 degrees in Atlanta. There will be a heat advisory for parts of metro Atlanta from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service expects triple-digit heat indexes to reach up to 106. Extreme heat and humidity increase the potential for heat related illnesses, so be sure to find some shade and bring plenty of water if you head outdoors.

“Sunday will be drier, much hotter too,” Deon stated.

Triple-digit heat indexes will remain until about 7 p.m. in metro Atlanta on Sunday and then begin to dip, but that doesn’t mean it will feel much cooler during the evening hours.

An excessive heat warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday for parts of Middle and South Georgia as heat indexes waver between 105 and 112 degrees, the NWS announced. An excessive heat watch will be in effect from Monday morning until the evening but will not particularly impact residents in the north of the state.

Monday will be fairly similar to Sunday with the high reaching 96 degrees and rain chances staying low. Deon predicts that showers may return Tuesday.
