It’ll be a soggy start to the weekend with rain patterns gradually decreasing throughout the day.

Temperatures will be hotter than they have been in recent days with the afternoon highs rising into the mid- and upper-80s across metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns.

“Have not seen that kind of warmth in a week or so,” he said.

Atlantans will kick the day off with a morning low of 69 degrees to go along with partly cloudy skies, Burns predicted. The outdoor highs will hit 86 intown by 4 p.m.

A lot of rain in store for metro Atlanta over the next five days, according to the Channel 2 Action News weather outlook.

“A front that’s been to our south — a lot of warm air south of that front — it’s moving to the north,” Burns said. “And as a result, we’re going to see temperatures really climb on your Saturday.”

There’s a 40% chance of rain for the day with scattered showers and thunder storms expected through the morning and into the lunch hour.

Pop-up showers and scattered storms are expected to continue until about 3 p.m. Burns said the rain coverage will dwindle across North Georgia by late afternoon and will gradually decrease throughout the evening.
