A Decatur woman fought off an armed burglar Wednesday morning after she found him climbing through the window of her townhouse, police said.

The woman told police she saw the man climbing through the downstairs window of her home on Commerce Drive, in a row of townhouses steps from the Decatur Square between East Ponce de Leon Avenue and Sycamore Street.

According to a Decatur police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the woman grabbed at the man’s gun after he pointed it at her and demanded “all her money.”

“The victim reported she grabbed at the suspect’s gun before he snatched it away from her grasp and fled from the scene,” an officer said in the report.

The woman, who was not injured, called to report the burglary about 12:20 a.m. She told officers she did not get a good look at the man’s face, but he had been wearing all dark clothing and gloves. One investigator found a black glove behind the row of townhomes that smelled like sweat and alcohol, according to the report.

Several hours later, the victim also recovered her key fob from the ground outside her house.
