Henry County police are searching for a man accused of trying to steal more than $7,000 from two banks by impersonating separate victims.

Police released photos of the suspect Tuesday and asked for the public’s help in identifying the man. He is charged with identity fraud in the two cases, which took place more than a month apart.

The first incident was April 12 at a branch of Ameris Bank on North Henry Boulevard in Stockbridge. The man successfully impersonated the victim and withdrew $4,200 from their account, police said.

More than a month later, on May 23, the man attempted to commit a similar act of fraud at the Navy Federal Credit Union on Jonesboro Road in McDonough, according to police. This time, he attempted to withdraw $3,200 from a different victim’s account, though police did not say if he received the cash.

Henry police representatives have not responded to requests for additional details.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information about either incident is asked to contact Henry police Sgt. M. Gleason at 770-288-8265, the Henry non-emergency dispatch at 770-957-9121 or text tips to 770-220-7009.
