Two suspects are at large after a deadly shooting Tuesday near Gainesville, authorities said.

The incident was reported at about 10:25 a.m. in the 1300 block of Brown Street off Old Athens Road in a mostly residential area east of I-985. Christopher Dixon, 25, was found shot in the chest and died at a hospital, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said.

By 1:35 p.m., officials said they believed two suspects had barricaded themselves in a unit at the Harrison Square Apartments near Eureka Cemetery and New Life Missionary Baptist Church. A SWAT team was called to the scene to attempt to make contact with the suspects.

Upon entry of the unit, authorities said no signs of the suspects were found.

“At this time, Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators are following viable leads as they continue to search for the suspects,” officials said.
