Research reveals corruption in the 10 worst states costs taxpayers who live there more than $1,300 per person, yearly.

The study looked at a period between 1976 and 2008, including more than 25,000 convictions of public officials.

In that time frame, the state with the worst behavior was Mississippi.

The top ten were:

1. Mississippi

2. Louisiana

3. Tennessee

4. Illinois

5. Pennsylvania

6. Alabama

7. Alaska

8. South Dakota

9. Kentucky

10. Florida

This isn’t the first time the Rebel state has ranked No. 1 on a list. A recent Gallup poll found Mississippi to be the most religious state in America, as well.
