Two 11-year-old girls were shot Sunday during a sleepover in an apparent drive-by in Newnan.
Officers responded to a shooting at a home on Reynolds Street just before 11:40 p.m., Newnan police spokeswoman Gina Snider said.
During the investigation, officers learned someone outside fired shots into the living room and kitchen of the home.
Four girls in front rooms of the house heard the gunfire and ran to avoid the bullets, police said. One was hit in the right cheek and another was hit in the left thigh with bullets from a 9mm gun, Snider said.
Both were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. One had to be flown there, police said. Both girls are in stable condition.
A parent was in the home when shots were fired, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Sgt. J. Beneke, Lt. T. Washington or Deputy Chief Mark Cooper at 770-254-2355.
