Two women were detained by police Wednesday after a fight at a DeKalb County apartment complex ended in a stabbing.

The victim, a 38-year-old woman, was stabbed multiple times to her face and upper body as the result of a verbal dispute at The Park at Greatstone Apartments in unincorporated Stone Mountain, DeKalb police told Channel 2 Action News.

She was taken to a hospital about 5:30 p.m. and is expected to survive, police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said.

A 46-year-old woman is the primary suspect, she said.

The other person detained, a 21-year-old woman, allegedly fired shots at the stabbing suspect, according to Vincent. The victim is also accused of firing a shot into the air.

None of the women’s names were released. The 21-year-old was arrested on an unrelated warrant, and Vincent said charges were pending for the 46-year-old.
