Police in Texas have accused a woman of pouring boiling water onto her boyfriend -- who she says was cheating on her -- and her 2-year-old child as they were lying in bed in a North Austin, Texas, apartment.

Taleicia Meshawn Winston, 18, faces a charge of aggravated assault and injury to a child, according to Travis County Sheriff's Office records.

Police received a report of a man suffering from burns in the 2400 block of Akron Cove around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers arrived to find the man had been loaded into an ambulance. Paramedics at the scene estimated that he had second- and third-degree burns over much of his body, according to an affidavit.

A neighbor who called police told officers that the man ran to her door for help moments before. The report said he told the neighbor that he was asleep when he felt pain, and that he thought the woman had smashed glass across his back.

Officers went to the residence the man came from and confronted Winston, who allowed them enter as she tended to the toddler. The document said the child could be heard crying from outside of the apartment as they approached.

"She was asked what happened and stated 'I'm not gonna lie, I burned him,' " the affidavit said.

According to the report, Winston said she found out that the victim had purchased a hotel room to meet up with another woman for sex.

"She was upset that he had money for a hotel to go sleep with another female but didn't have money for food for her and her baby," the affidavit said.

Winston initially told investigators that the victim punched her and she responded by throwing the water on him.

While being taken to jail, however, she told officers that she threw the water on him while he was lying in bed with the baby, the document said.

The report said the man suffered second- and third-degree burns to more than 16 percent of his body and the child received second-degree burns to his chest, ear and face.

Winston is currently being held on a combined bond of $45,000.
