A 68-year-old woman was killed Monday after she was struck by a tow truck in Gainesville, the Georgia State Patrol said in a statement.

Etta Lewis was walking south on Old Cornelia Highway when she was hit by a 1994 Chevrolet Kodiak flatbed wrecker driven by Jeffery Passmore, 49, of Gainesville, according to GSP.

Passmore was driving east on Old Cornelia Highway when the car in front of him swerved. He was unable to avoid Lewis and hit the Gainesville woman with the front right corner of the car, GSP said.

Passmore was not injured in the wreck. Lewis died from her injuries.

No charges will be filed in the crash.
