A woman was shot and killed early Saturday while driving her SUV down an Atlanta street, officials said.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Elizabeth Espy said officers responded to Milton Avenue near Hank Aaron Drive at about 12:45 a.m., finding an overturned SUV and “multiple shell casings” in the road. Two passengers were removed from the vehicle and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, but the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Channel 2 Action News reported the woman was shot in the face, and that the shots were fired from a second vehicle.

“None of the other occupants of the vehicle, there were two others, appeared to have been shot, but one suffered at least a broken ankle and the other one had some injuries,” Atlanta police Capt. Michael O’Connor told Channel 2. “We’re not very clear on what they were.”

Detectives went to the hospital to speak with the surviving victims, Espy said. The deceased victim’s identity was not released.

As of Saturday afternoon, no suspects had been arrested, and a potential motive was unclear.

The incident scene was about a mile south of Turner Field.
