In cryptic Facebook posts, a 21-year-old Cobb County woman denied she kidnapped a young girl.
“Y’all (expletives) funny u wish i abducted a child lol smh,” Quanisha Safara Bell posted early Monday.
Within hours, Bell was arrested and charged with kidnapping a 12-year-old girl, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.
Bell was at the Acworth-area home of family friends Sunday night when she asked Aryana Warren’s mother if the two could walk to a nearby store, Lt. Michael Grier said. When the two hadn’t returned an hour later, Warren’s mother called police.
Calling the incident a “non-parental kidnapping,” Grier said investigators were “concerned for the safety of Aryana,” prompting a Levi’s Call alert for the girl.
“We take everything involving a child seriously,” Grier said.
Before daybreak Monday, the 12-year-old was found safe near Town Center Mall, according to police. A lookout was issued for Bell, who remained on the loose until around 9 a.m.
“I dont want anybody to get the wrong idea bout me i dont have nothing to hide i want the world to see,” Bell said in another Facebook post.
Cobb County police spotted Bell walking along Barrett Parkway and arrested her, Grier said. She was charged with one count of kidnapping and booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, where she was being held Monday afternoon on $44,200 bond, Grier said.
The girl was returned home and was not injured, according to police. The alleged kidnapping remains under investigation.
