A Lawrenceville woman has been charged in the death of a 24-year-old motorcyclist killed in a collision two weeks ago, police said Wednesday.

Samantha Dickson, 33, is charged with homicide by vehicle and failure to yield while turning left in connection with the wreck that killed Devaughn Jones, Gwinnett County police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

Jones was riding his 2008 Honda CBR 600 eastbound on Ga. 120 about 7:30 p.m. July 24 when he was struck by Dickson’s 2014 Kia Sportage and thrown from the bike, according to a police report obtained by AJC.com. He died at the scene.

Investigators said Dickson turned left into the path of the motorcycle at the intersection of Lakes Parkway. She told officers there was a glare caused by the sunset and she never saw Jones coming, according to the report.

Dickson has not been booked into the Gwinnett jail, but she is aware of her charges, Pihera said.
