Paulding County deputies are searching for a man they say broke into a house and then attacked a woman who came home and interrupted him.
The burglary and assault occurred late last month at a home along Ginnity Drive in the southern part of the county, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ashley Henson said.
The alleged victim, Angie Vaughn, said the intruder held a knife to her throat, beat her and then used the blade to cut off her hair.
She said the man, who smashed a back window to enter the home, had a “foul” smell that she described as a mixture of cigarettes and body odor. Police have released a sketch of the suspect, who they said was “very dirty” with long brown hair and a beard.
“The scars are healed, the bruises are gone, I like the haircut now,” Vaughn told Channel 2 Action News, “but I don’t like being at home.”
Investigators said the man left on foot and that it’s possible he is homeless.
Anyone who recognizes the man from the police sketch is asked to contact investigators at 770-433-3015.
