While family prepares to bury teen, suspected gunman appears in court

While a family prepared to bury a 14-year-old girl, the man accused of killing her and her unborn child appeared in court in a jail jumpsuit.

Sonja Star Harrison was babysitting her sister’s children Nov. 19 in a south Fulton County apartment when she was struck by a stray bullet, according to investigators. Harrison, who went by Star, was struck by a bullet fired from an upstairs apartment. She was eight months pregnant and her unborn daughter did not survive, according to police.

Her daughter was due in weeks, and Harrison had a name picked out: Naomi Trinity. Harrison’s mother told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the day after her death that with one shot, her daughter and granddaughter were senselessly taken.

The man accused of killing Harrison was arrested Nov. 22. Souleyman Diallo, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder and feticide after allegedly firing a single shot through the floor, according to police. Friday morning, a judge found probable cause for the charges against Diallo, whose case will later be presented to a grand jury. He was being held without bond late Friday at the Fulton County jail.
