Move over, "Dancing With The Stars." Say hello to "Dancing with the Cops."
Chances are pretty good you’ve heard the song and seen the dance moves. Maybe you’ve even perfected your own version of the stanky leg.
“Now watch me whip. Now watch me nae nae.”
But if you think you’ve seen and heard enough of the song, give it one more chance. A Bartow County police chief and two of his officers performed their own version of “Watch Me,” a song and dance by rapper Silento, and it’s guaranteed to be different than the other versions you’ve seen.
"We were posed with a challenge," the Adairsville police department posted on its Facebook page.
Chief Arnold Gillman said students at Adairsville Elementary School have been asking officers to join them in the dance for several weeks. But Gillman wasn’t exactly sure what the kids were talking about.
“What is the whip and nae nae?” Gillman said he asked himself.
On Tuesday, Gillman got a quick dance lesson. Then he and officers Javier Villalobos and Robert Garcia rose to the challenge, showing off their dance moves in a one-minute video shared on Facebook. Within two hours of the video posting, it had been viewed more than 15,000 times. Watch the video here.
“We like to have fun, just to let people know we’re human,” Gillman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “This is the time in our country when I think police and citizens need to be together.”
Gillman declined to comment on whether he would be teaching other officers his "stanky leg."
