Waffle House employees and customers were ordered to the ground and robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

Shortly after 2 a.m., officers responded to the restaurant in the 1300 block of Oconee Street, spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said in a news release.

They learned two men, one of whom had a gun, ordered two employees and three customers in the restaurant to the ground before taking cellphones, purses and money from the cash register, according to police.
