Two men were wounded in an overnight shootout with officers following a police chase that began in southwest Atlanta and ended in DeKalb County.
Atlanta police investigating reports of passengers in a car waving guns spotted the suspect vehicle, but when an officer tried to pull the car over, the driver sped off, leading police on a chase that ended on Sugarcreek Place near Bouldercrest Road in south DeKalb, Channel 2 Action News reported.
According to Atlanta police, the suspects jumped out of the car and ran behind a house before exchanging gunfire with the officers.
“At this point we have one 18-year-old suspect that was shot in the leg and we have a 24-year-old suspect that was shot in the abdomen,” Atlanta police Major Jeff Glazier told Channel 2. “We have a 22-year-old suspect that is also in custody that has facial injuries from a fall he took when he tried to run from the officer.”
A woman who was in the car was also arrested.
No officers were injured in the shootout, which is being investigated by DeKalb police.
The conditions of the suspects, whose names have not been released, were not available early Wednesday.
Channel 2 reported that police confirmed that the car the suspects were in was stolen, and the suspects may have also been involved in a robbery.
