The driver of a tractor-trailer is wanted after a hit-and-run left a 56-year-old man dead on I-85 Tuesday morning, authorities said.

About 6 a.m., Victor Debroux of Fayetteville was driving a Cadillac SUV south on the interstate near Ga. 54 in Troup County, the Georgia State Patrol said. For an unknown reason, the SUV was driven into the rear-end of a tractor-trailer, troopers said.

The SUV came to a stop in the right lane of the interstate after the impact, but the tractor-trailer never stopped, GSP said. Troopers have not been able to get a description of the tractor-trailer involved.

Debroux died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash, GSP said. The incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

Traffic on the interstate was affected for nearly two hours after the crash, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information on the incident is urged to contact GSP at 706-845-4104.
