4-time felon convicted again of heroin trafficking

A 32-year-old Acworth man who started dealing drugs as a teenager is headed to prison for two decades, officials said.
Peter William Hargrove Jr. was sentenced Tuesday as a recidivist, meaning he had four prior convictions for dealing and possessing cocaine and heroin, Cobb County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Kim Isaza said.
His first conviction came when Hargrove was 19 years old, Isaza said.

In January, a jury convicted Hargrove of trafficking heroin and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
The charges stemmed from a December 2014 incident in which an organized crime task force used informants to purchase drugs from Hargrove’s Smyrna address. Agents seized more than 14 grams of heroin, cocaine and packaging, and marijuana, Isaza said.
Hargrove received a 30-year sentence of which 20 years are to be spent in prison and 10 years are to be spent on probation.
Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jason Saliba, who prosecuted the case, said Hargrove belongs behind bars.
“He’s been a blight on this community for years,” Saliba said.
