Two teenage boys were injured in a drive-by shooting Wednesday morning after leaving a northwest Atlanta party, police said.

The boys, ages 17 and 18, had just left the party and returned home to the 2500 block of Dale Creek Drive when they were shot. According to Atlanta police, they were involved in a dispute with a group of other young men.

“The victims told investigators that they had been at a party at another location and there was a dispute between themselves and a group of males at the party about why someone was staring at someone else,” police spokesman Officer Steve Avery said in a statement.

When they arrived on Dale Creek Drive about 2:45 a.m., they noticed a gray sedan stopped nearby, Avery said.

“The gray sedan drove past the victims and someone inside the vehicle began shooting at the victims,” he said.

The two boys were taken to a hospital and were stable Wednesday morning, according to police. It is not clear if the shooting was related to the dispute at the party.

An investigation is ongoing, Avery said.
