Two 16-year-olds were arrested Tuesday and charged with robbing a man they met online after agreeing to buy a gun from him, LaGrange police said.

The victim, who is from Decatur, told police he was punched in the face and then robbed of two pistols Sunday afternoon after agreeing to sell a gun to someone he met on an “Arms List” website.

The incident occurred about 12:45 p.m. on Forrest Avenue, authorities said. After knocking him to the ground and stealing his guns, police said three teenagers ran away on foot.

Two of the teens were taken into custody Tuesday evening and charged with aggravated assault and robbery by force after detectives searched their homes, police said. Because both suspects are 16, authorities are not releasing their names.

While searching one of the homes, officers were notified that a tenant living there had been quarantined and tested for COVID-19, LaGrange police said in a news release. It was later determined that person's test came back negative for the highly contagious disease.

Police said their investigation into the robbery is ongoing and that additional arrests are likely.
