A teenager died in an apparent accidental shooting Saturday morning in DeKalb County, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The 17-year-old boy was shot in the face and killed, police told the station.

The 16-year-old who was holding the gun was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

A group of teens between the ages of 13 and 17 was playing with the gun inside an apartment complex on Meadowglen Village Lane when it went off just after midnight, police told Channel 2. Family members told the station that all the teens were friends or cousins.

Relatives of the 16-year-old charged in the shooting told Channel 2 the teen ran home saying he had shot someone and was driven back to the scene. Detectives are looking into how the gun went off and where the teens got it.
