Police were called Wednesday morning to a Paulding County home where a woman was seen attempting to get into a home through an open garage door.

But when a Dallas Officer J.D. Johnson arrived at the St. Charles Avenue home, the woman pointed a gun, according to the GBI. She was later identified as 31-year-old Jennifer Autry.

“Officer Johnson fired at Autry, but Autry was not struck by any rounds,” the GBI said in an emailed statement. “Officer Johnson was not injured during this incident.”

Autry was arrested and charged with burglary, aggravated assault, loitering and prowling. The GBI’s Calhoun office was called to investigate.

“The GBI will conduct an independent investigation to determine what occurred during the incident,” the GBI said. “When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney for judicial review.”

Autry’s mug shot was not immediately available late Wednesday afternoon.
