A clerk was shot but didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after several men attempted to rob a beer and wine store, DeKalb County police said.

Several men armed with handguns entered the Big Man Package Store at 2594 Candler Road around 9:30 p.m., police spokesman Stephen Fore said.

The men, in dark clothing and masks, then attempted to rob the store. The 37-year-old clerk attempted to run away, but that’s when one of the robbers shot at the employee, Fore said. The other robbers fled on foot.

The clerk was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other details were immediately released.
