Police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery Monday morning at a Buckhead electronics store.

Around 4:30 a.m., police responded to a burglary alarm set off at the Radio Shack near Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Piedmont Road.

Police believe the suspects crashed a U-Haul truck through the front of the business, smashing the glass door and windows to make their entry.

Witnesses told police the U-Haul was seen heading east on Sydney Marcus toward I-85, where officers began following the truck.

When officers flashed blue lights, the truck accelerated and was eventually found abandoned near Angier and Peace avenues in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.

Several items were still inside the truck, Atlanta Police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

Police also found blood inside the cab of the truck, but the suspect or suspects had apparently fled, Jones said.

Police returning to the crime scene brought back several flat-screen TVs and computer routers.

The investigation is ongoing.
