Investigators believe they have identified skeletal remains found in the brush near Langford Parkway in southwest Atlanta but face hurdles in making a definite determination, a Fulton County Medical Examiner official said Tuesday.

The lack of fingerprints means forensic examiners will have to rely on dental records and X-rays to make a firm identification. Investigators are working with individuals who are believed to be the deceased’s out-of-state family to gather those records. No evidence of trauma or foul play was found in the examination Tuesday, the official said.

Two construction workers in search of privacy for a bathroom break near the Langford and I-85/75 intersection stumbled upon a human skull around 9 a.m. Monday.

Homicide detectives began investigating and a skeleton was delivered to the medical examiner.
