A Bibb County man is facing charges in three counties after deputies found what they call a “grow operation” in his house, officials said.
Thomas Gary Palmer, 58, of Lizella, was arrested Friday after allegedly firing shots at and fighting with deputies, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
Deputies got a call from a woman who said she had been kidnapped and witnessed an assault in Crawford County, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Lawson Bittick said.
Palmer was charged with murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping after Kenneth Hutcheson, 55, was found shot to death Friday morning in Crawford County.
After Palmer was taken to jail, deputies searched his Macon home and found what they believed to be illegal drugs, Bibb Sheriff David Davis told the Macon Telegraph.
“They found a fairly decent quantity of marijuana and some suspected methamphetamine,” Davis told the newspaper. “He had kind of a grow operation and had some packages ready to sell.”
As deputies searched, they found evidence of a love triangle involving a woman planning to seek a restraining order against Palmer, the Telegraph reported.
In addition to drug charges in Bibb County, Palmer is facing charges in relation to the shootout and resisting arrest in Monroe County and is facing charges in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder in Crawford County.
