Eight sex offenders were arrested after authorities discovered they violated their probation by possessing pornographic material, committing other sex crimes or possessing drugs.
The arrests were part of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office’s “Operation Watchful Eye,” in which officials “ensure compliance per probation conditions on sex offenders,” according to a release on its Facebook page.
The sheriff’s office’s sex offender and internet crimes against children units made the arrests along with the Georgia Department of Community Supervision.
Between May 21 and May 24, authorities arrested Michael Brashear, Thomas Flynn, Stephen Moon, Kenny Turner and Christopher Woodall for possessing pornographic material on their phones or computers. Officials said Turner had two phones that had not been monitored and was possibly living somewhere other than his registered address.
Authorities also arrested Jody Lee Flowers for possessing pornographic DVDs and Deon Brinkley for having unsupervised contact with minors.
Salvador Lauricella was arrested for marijuana possession and two probation violations from Cherokee and Paulding counties for a felony charge and for possessing alcohol. Authorities did not indicate what Lauricella’s felony charge was.
Alex Ethan Lane, who is not a registered sex offender, was arrested during the sting for having pornographic material and having social media on his phone.
