Deputies in Forsyth County are looking for a man who escaped from a Monroe County prison.

Eric J. Coe, 20, walked off of a work release detail Wednesday, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. Authorities believe Coe stole a vehicle in Lamar County which was located on Settingdown Road in Forsyth County Thursday night.

Another vehicle was stolen on Settingdown Road Thursday night. It is described as a Black Ford Ranger XLT extended cab, with tag number PHG3977. The truck has front end damage to the hood, grill and front bumper, along with a dented rear passenger corner panel.

The sheriff’s office is asking that any person who sees Coe or the vehicle call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers.

Forsyth County deputies have increased patrols in the area and are contacting known associates of Coe, according to the post.

“Anyone found to be aiding Coe or assisting in harboring this fugitive will be dealt with accordingly and charged to the full extent of the law,” it said.

Coe had served about one-half of a 120-day boot camp program in Monroe County. His arrest history includes theft by taking and burglary.
