Police in Paulding County removed road blocks Tuesday afternoon, but were still searching for a suspect who allegedly struck a Carroll County deputy with a fire extinguisher and set a fire.
Deputies went to the home in the 1800 block of Old Draketown Trail to retrieve belongings for a woman in a temporary protective order case, according to Channel 2 Action News.
After a confrontation, the homeowner, Barry Black, allegedly struck one of the deputies in the arm with a fire extinguisher, before setting his wife’s clothes on fire and running away from the area, the television station reported.
The deputy did not have life threatening injuries, according to Channel 2. He did user a tazer on Black, who pulled the prongs out and ran, the deputy told Channel 2.
It was not known if the homeowner was armed, but neighbors told Channel 2 Black wasn’t dangerous.
The father, who is in his 60s, has diabetes and doesn’t have his medication with him, family members told Channel 2.
Jenna Black told the station she hopes her father comes out of this alive.
The long-time military veteran eluded dozens of heavily armed searchers after a domestic incident at his rural home went bad.
“I’m worried that if he’s cornered he might do something stupid because he said he would rather go out dead than have someone catch him,” Jenna Black told Channel 2. “I hope they don’t kill him if they do find him.”
