Atlanta police are asking for the public’s help to find the suspects in a Midtown shooting death and armed robbery.

Lee Lowery III, 20, was killed as he apparently waited for someone to let him in Monday evening outside the Ford Factory Lofts apartments in the 600 block of Ponce De Leon Avenue.

Investigators have released video footage of the incident that led to Lowery’s death in the hope that someone might know the supspect caught on tape.

Sometime before 5 p.m., a man with dreadlocks wearing a white sweatshirt, sneakers and camouflage pants walked up behind Lowery and reached for a package he was holding.

Lowery pulled the package close to himself and a struggle ensued, police said, before shots were fired.

“He was shot at least once in the chest,” Atlanta police homicide unit commander Lt. Paul Guerrucci said. “The victim was transported to the hospital and subsequently died.”

It’s unclear what was in the package that was taken, investigators said.

“We’d certainly like to reach out to anyone who knew where he was going and who he was trying to meet,” Guerrucci said.

Police believe the suspects – the shooter and a person who may have been his driver – fled in a white vehicle.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477. Anonymous calls are accepted and any information leading to an arrest or conviction is eligible for a reward.
