Police released surveillance video of a vehicle believed to be involved in a drive-by shooting that left a 59-year-old DeKalb County woman dead.

On Sept. 3 about 3:15 a.m., Patricia Myrick was sleeping inside her home on Lawndale Court near Decatur when a barrage of bullets were fired into her home, AJC.com previously reported. She was hit multiple times in her arms and upper thighs, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Three days later, she died from complications at the hospital, police Detective Keith McQuilkin said.

“Nobody was looking outside when this occurred,” he told Channel 2. “Everyone was in their respective rooms — in their beds asleep when this happened, so there was actually no eyewitness to this shooting.”

About 30 shell casings were found in the road outside of the home, which is located in the Belvedere Park neighborhood, according to a police incident report obtained by AJC.com. The shell casings included .223 and .22 caliber shells.

Investigators hope the grainy footage of a vehicle leaving the scene will lead to new leads in the case. The type of car is unclear, but police told the news station it’s likely a white Ford Fusion or a small Mercedes-Benz.

Shortly after the shooting, Myrick’s son told officers the incident may be related to a “rival biker gang fight” he was involved in about two months ago, the incident report said. However, McQuilkin told Channel 2 the shooting doesn’t appear to be retaliatory.

Police don’t believe the woman was the intended target, so the adult children and juveniles who live in the home are still being questioned.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DeKalb police at 770-724-7850.
