Atlanta police have released a sketch of the man who is wanted in connection with a sexual assault at the North Avenue MARTA station.
A woman was sexually assaulted at the station, located at 713 W. Peachtree St NW, on July 26, according to an Atlanta Police Department news release Monday.
The woman, who was visiting from out of town, fell asleep at the station and woke up to find a man on top of her, according to the release.
The suspect is described by police as a black man in his late 40s with an average build.
The case is the third known sexual assault to occur near a MARTA stop in the past nine weeks. On the morning of July 25, a woman was sexually assaulted and robbed near the bus stop at Chattahoochee Avenue and Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, police said. The suspect — who has not yet been arrested — allegedly forced the woman into a nearby ditch and assaulted her, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
Anyone with information about the suspect in the latest incident has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
