A 40-year-old man allegedly thought he was messaging a 14-year-old girl and tried to lure her to meet him for sex.

However, he was actually messaging an undercover cop.

James Alexander Hobson, of Lithia Springs, was arrested after messaging the Marietta officer and sending lewd photos of himself, according to an arrest warrant. He developed a sexual interest with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl, the warrant said.

The messages began July 1, and they ended Monday when he allegedly tried to meet the person he was messaging for sex. He was arrested and charged with a count of using a computer to lure or entice a child to commit an illegal act, according to Cobb County jail records.

He was held in the Cobb jail for one day before being released on a $5,720 bond, records show.
