A 23-year-old man was shot to death by his 19-year-old stepson and another teen at an apartment complex, Clayton County police said Friday night.

Officers were called to the Brookside Apartment Homes on Riverdale Road around 9:45 p.m. Thursday and arrived to find Malik Ramee unresponsive, Officer Charlene Watson-Fraser said. Ramee had been shot multiple times.

Ramee’s stepson, John Barnes, told officers his mother had called him to retrieve her car keys from her husband, Watson-Fraser said in an emailed statement. Both Barnes and his 17-year-old friend, Elijay Young-Williams, went to the complex, police said.

“When Barnes arrived at the location with his friend Young-Williams, an altercation ensued between the men,” Watson-Fraser said. “During the altercation, Barnes and Young-Williams both produced handguns and fired several shots at Mr. Ramee striking him multiple times, fatally wounding him.”

Both Barnes and Young-Williams were arrested and charged with murder. They were transported to the Clayton County jail, where they were being held without bond Friday night.
