Police on Thursday released a sketch of a man accused of posing as a carpet salesman and robbing a southeast Atlanta business last month.
The robbery happened June 22 at a commercial building in the 3700 block of Zip Industrial Boulevard, according to Atlanta police. The victim told investigators the man walked up to a window around 5:15 p.m. and asked to come inside the business to discuss carpets.
Once inside the office area, the man allegedly pulled out a small pistol and demanded money. He used duct tape to bind the employee’s hands and a belt to tie his legs together, police said in an incident report.
The victim told police the man got away with $2,500 cash from a safe, about $200 in personal cash, his cellphone and the keys to his house and car. He also grabbed the keys to the company truck and a Land Rover parked out back, but the vehicles were not reported stolen, according to police.
Eventually, the victim was able to wriggle free of the tape and call for help. Officers arrived around 7 p.m.
“Investigators met with the victim and were able to put together a sketch of the suspect,” police spokesman Sgt. John Chafee said.
