After weeks of few leads in the shooting death of a man outside a southwest Atlanta food mart, police have released a sketch of a person of interest in the incident.

Ja’Carlos Jeffries, 19, was standing outside the food mart in the 300 block of Fletcher Street on July 13 when he was shot twice, Atlanta police said Thursday.

He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Police said the shooter hid behind a building, pulled a gun on Jeffries and took off running.

A $2,000 Crime Stoppers reward was offered two weeks after the incident. Now, police hope the man in the sketch can help them solve the case.

Investigators have not specified what role, if any, he played in the deadly shooting.

Anyone with information about the person of interest is asked to contact Atlanta police. Atlanta police Officer Lisa Bender said the man has a scar near his eye.

Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward up to $2,000, by also contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting crimestoppersatlanta.org.
