A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Troup County Friday evening, authorities confirmed.

Around 7:30 p.m., train personnel called 911 and said an adult man was hit near Bass Cross Road and Hogansville Road, Troup County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Troup County deputies found a bandanna and cell phone near the tracks, and they recovered the man’s body a little before 8 p.m., the release said.

Hogansville police said in a Facebook post that all train traffic has been halted but no road crossings are currently blocked.

On Thursday, a similar incident happened in Gainesville where a 33-year-old woman was hit and killed by a train.

The man was identified as David Pursley, who is from Tennessee, Troup County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Stewart Smith told AJC.com.

Smith said the incident was ruled an accident. No other details have been released.
