Pedestrian in critical condition after being run over

Oct 21, 2013

A pedestrian was in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle several times Saturday night, Atlanta police said.

Officers were called to the 600 block of Clover Street around 11:40 p.m. They found a man in the road trapped underneath a vehicle. Firefighters removed him and he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

A witness told police that the driver hit the pedestrian several times — running over him, then placing the vehicle in reverse and backing over him before driving forward over him again, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said. The pedestrian was not identified.

The witness allegedly forcibly removed the driver from the car, police say. The pedestrian had several fractures and a lacerated liver, police said.

The driver, identified as Bryan Bush, was arrested on an aggravated battery charge, police said.
