An off duty Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested for driving under the influence in his patrol vehicle early Saturday morning, according to The Macon Telegraph.

The paper reported that according to authorities, a Georgia State Patrol trooper was conducting a traffic stop when Deputy Mitchell Tharpe pulled up next to the trooper to “assist the motorist.”

“Tharpe displayed signs of being intoxicated and was given a field sobriety test at the scene,” according to a media release.
