Authorities are searching for the person who shot and killed a man in the basement of his northwest Atlanta home.

Officers were called to the scene late Wednesday after shots were reported on Vanderbilt Court, according to Channel 2 Action News.

They found a man in his late 20s shot at least one time, Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told the television station.

Homicide detectives and the crime scene unit searched the house overnight.

Investigators did not know if the man was home alone at the time of the shooting. They did not have a description of the shooter.
