The two people found badly decomposed inside a home in Norcross Monday afternoon are believed to be a Vietnamese-born brother and sister who died in a murder-suicide that happened in early June, police said Wednesday.

Glenda Nguyen, 49, who had been renting the home for a few months, was murdered — stabbed twice in the back and abdomen. A man identified as Hoang Nguyen, 45, committed suicide, according to the Gwinnett County medical examiner’s office which completed their autopsies Tuesday night. A birth certificate for Hoang Nguyen was found in the home, Norcross police spokesman Capt. Bill Grogan said, and Glenda Nguyen’s ex-husband told investigators she had a brother.

Police have yet to determine a motive.

Glenda Nguyen had worked in a nail salon, but was not close friends with anyone in the area and fellow employees assumed she had returned to Vietnam when she did not show up to work, Grogan said.

The bodies were discovered after a man cutting grass nearby said he smelled a strong odor coming from the house in the 450 block of North Norcross-Tucker Road. He told police he had not seen the woman who lived there for several weeks. Officers broke into the home and found the bodies which were located in different rooms.

Investigators are working with the U.S. State Department to locate relatives in Vietnam. Police are asking that anyone with background information on the Nguyens to email tips@norcrosspd.com, or call 770-448-2111.
